Software Engineer

POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The purpose of this role is to design, code, test and maintain software systems used by the agency, working in concert with the software development team and end users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Analyzes user requirements and develops software solutions that meet those requirements.
• Designs software architecture and creates technical specifications.
• Writes clean, maintainable, and efficient code using programming languages such as JavaScript, C#, Python, Core, & Blazor.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL for writing queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• SQL Server management, SQL backup, restores, and optimization.
• Familiarity with RESTful, SOAP and authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Debugs and fixes software defects or issues.
• Experience with handling various data formats: XML, JSON, CSV, Fixed width.
• Documents software design, code, and system processes. Utilizes version control systems.
• Participates in code reviews and provides constructive feedback to improve software quality.
• Conducts software testing to identify and resolve any bugs or performance issues.
• Continuously learns and stays current with new technologies and industry trends.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure software integration and compatibility.

 Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or closely related field; supplemented by eight years previous experience and/or training that includes computer programming, computer application development, database administration, computer systems administration, network operating systems, computer hardware/software maintenance and repair, technical support, and various software applications; excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as problem-solving abilities.
