MOVING FROM Out-of-State or Country
A Florida driver license is required to drive a motor vehicle on public streets and highways. You must obtain a Florida driver license within 30 days of accepting employment, engaging in a trade, profession or occupation, or enrolling a child in public school in Florida.
If you move to Palm Beach County from another state, or country you must make a reservation for in-person driver license/ID card service.
Countries Exempt From Knowledge and Skills Exams
We will waive the Class E Knowledge and Class E Skills exams if you bring a driver license to your reservation from any of the jurisdictions listed below:
- United States (any state)
- United States Territories, Possessions (including Panama Canal Zone if issued prior to January 1, 2000)
- Canada*
- Germany – Reciprocate the skill exam only
- France
- Republic of China (Taiwan)
- Republic of Korea (South Korea)
- United States Armed Forces (This includes on base only and off base U.S. Armed Forces driver licenses)
*Canadian drivers may have the Class E Knowledge and Class E Skills exams waived; however, doing so will result in the surrendering of their Canadian driver license. Those that do not wish to have their Canadian driver license surrendered will have to take the Class E Knowledge and Class E Skills exams.
